24-hour suicide intervention and prevention helpline * trained personnel assist people in crisis situations or in immediate need of emotional support or suicide prevention * referral to emergency or community services, when appropriate * confidential and non-judgemental * provides suicide alertness training workshops (ASIST, safeTALK, suicideTALK)
Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) - Internationally standardized suicide/crisis intervention training program * caregivers learn and practice skills in identifying and responding to people at immediate risk of suicide * addresses issues of caregiver attitudes towards suicide and their on impact the willingness to help and the effectiveness of the help * explores options for linking people with resources for ongoing help * aims to prepare caregivers to be willing, ready and able to provide suicide first aid interventions
safeTALK - Suicide alertness and prevention training program * training that prepares people to identify persons with thoughts of suicide and connect them to first aid resources and interventions * teaches the TALK steps (Tell, Ask, Listen and Keep Safe)
